She married Richard Duitsman on December 18, 1976 in Swea City, to this union three children were born: Emily, Corey, and Anita. Wendy enjoyed going to Illinois every year to visit family. She also enjoyed reading, listening to music, driving around and spending time with her family. She loved celebrating holidays and her favorite was Christmas.

She retired in September 2020 and took on a new role as babysitter for her granddaughter. This was very rewarding for her as she got to spend extra time with her precious granddaughter, Violet Jade.
