Kathleen “Fae” Porter, age 80, of La Vista, NE, and Mesa, AZ, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa.

Fae was born on April 15, 1943, in Watertown, SD.  She was the 6th of 7 children born to Francis and Alta (Raderschadt) Riley.  She attended school in Watertown, SD.  Fae married Lawrence Heyn in 1961 and together they had four children-Dean, Cheryl, Jeffrey and Scott and made their home in Swea City, IA.  Fae worked many different jobs over the years.  She was employed by ArtsWay Manufacturing in Armstrong, IA, for over 20 years.  

In 2000, Fae married Clifford Porter.  They lived in Pocahontas, IA, and traveled the world together.  Fae was a member of Resurrection of Our Lady of Lord Catholic church in Pocahontas.  She belonged to the Eagles Club in Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Fae liked to dance, sing karaoke, and play cards and games.  She loved spending time with her family and friends – especially in the past several years playing Texas Hold’em with her friends in La Vista.  She and Cliff enjoyed being snowbirds in Hawaii, Lake Havasu City and Mesa, AZ, over the past 24 years.

Fae was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; son Jeffrey; parents Francis and Alta Riley; brothers Francis “Sonny” and John; sisters Veronica, Carol and Patricia.

Survivors include her children, Dean (Melanie) of Parker, CO; Cheryl (Mark) Bolluyt of Norfolk, NE, daughter-in-law Dianna “Dee Dee” of Hurst, TX; and Scott (Sharon) of Virginia Beach, VA.  Also left to treasure her memory is Fae’s beloved twin sister Katherine “Kae” (Jeff) McLean of La Vista, NE, and two step-daughters Michelle Ames and Roberta Reese of Pocahontas, IA.  Fae had 6 grandchildren, 3 step-grandsons, 1 great grandson, and 6 step-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A “Celebration of Life” is being planned for May 5 in La Vista, with burial in June in Armstrong, IA.
