Mary Kay Picht

Mary Kay (Krumm) Picht was born on June 4th, 1947 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Ruby (Opsal) Krumm. She passed away peacefully at the age of 76 in Fairmont surrounded by her family on September 19, 2023.

Mary Kay graduated from Armstrong High School in 1965. Following graduation, she was united in marriage to Elward Picht on June 11th, 1965. Mary Kay and Elward had three children, Ric, Robyn, and Randy. She had four adored grandchildren, Sam, Ally, Julianna, and Gratia.

Mary Kay was a lifelong and active member at Nazareth Lutheran Church of Armstrong. Mary Kay worked at Artsway and the Armstrong Journal. In her later years, she worked part time at City Hall. Mary Kay’s most treasured times were with her family, especially on the yearly Picht family vacation. If you knew Mary Kay, you would know she always had a book in her hand. She enjoyed quilting, spending time with her friends (especially her beloved and special friend, Peg Askeland) and collecting snowmen and rolling pins.

She is survived by her husband Elward; sons Ric (Renee) Picht and Randy Picht; daughter Robyn (Mark) Ruark; brother William (Joann) Krumm; and grandchildren: Sam, Ally, Julianna, and Gratia.

Mary Kay is preceded in death by her parents and brother David Krumm.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 22, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.  Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm and on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11.
