Roy Alan Cheever was born on February 27, 1966, in Estherville, Iowa to Johnnie and LaDean (Craig) Cheever. He passed away suddenly at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 60.

Roy graduated from Armstrong-Ringsted High School in 1984. He spent a year in Florida following graduation, his Iowa roots called him home though and he lived the remainder of his life in Armstrong. Roy loved the open road. He loved to take cross-country trips alone on his motorcycle, exploring 49 of the states, collecting motorcycle plates from each state he visited.

For the last seventeen years he has shared his life with his girlfriend Jennifer Lohse. The couple enjoyed traveling together; taking trips to Wisconsin, Deadwood, and to see her family in California. They also enjoyed a good competitive game of Scrabble. Roy was known as a character, who was always cracking jokes and making people smile.

He enjoyed time with his friends and family, including hunting and fishing with family and friends and golfing with friends. Roy took great care of his dog Madison and newly fostered Foster Dog.

Roy is survived by his girlfriend Jennifer Lohse; his siblings: Cheryl Larsen, Brent Cheever, Arlo Cheever, Orin (Terri) Cheever, and Renae (Dean) Irmiter; nieces and nephews: Cory Cheever, Chris Cheever, Emily Ashmead, Linsey Minnmann, Brianna Cheever, and Logan Cheever; and his great-nieces and nephews.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents and many other family and friends.
