Richard ‘Snuff’ Arndorfer was born on March 26, 1944, and passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Accura HealthCare of Bancroft. He was the son of Henry Sr. and Helen (Widen) Arndorfer. He grew up on a farm east of St. Benedict and attended school at Corwith and graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1962. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
He married his high school sweetheart, Delores Berte, on July 11, 1964, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He started farming in Lu Verne and his love for farming and family moved them to a farm west of Bancroft where they raised their six children. His love of family was deeply rooted, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. He passed along a lifetime of laughter and memories to all of them.
They moved to town in January 2006, and he served on the council for the City of Bancroft and North Kossuth Golf Club for two terms. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and his friends at Cargo every morning for their daily harassment and visits with great friends. He took numerous fishing trips with friends and family. He also loved the LA Dodgers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Vikings especially every time they beat the Packers. He was a member of the St. John Catholic Church. He was a faithful servant and is now at peace in the hands of our Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Delores, and their six children Kelly (Jeff) Deitering of Bancroft, Jennifer (Scott) Booth of Fuquay Varina, NC, Richard Jr. (Melissa) Arndorfer of Bancroft, Chad (Mickey) Arndorfer of Swea City, Kim (Horace) Tisdel of Kansas City, MO, and Kay (Casey) Harms of Bancroft along with 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Edmund (Mary Ann) Berte, and sisters-in-law Janine, Nancy, and Judy Berte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Henry Jr, Jerome, Robert (Marilyn) and sisters Delores (Charles) Nordstrom, Donna (Tony) Brown, Gloria (Howard) Wellendorf, and Shari (Dick) Lavrenz along with in-laws August (Eleanor), Adam (Dorothy), Charles (Shirley), John, Alfred, Nick, Margaret (Louis) and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass for Richard “Snuff” Arndorfer will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bancroft. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors conducted. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft.
