Jon Sorensen

Funeral services for Jon Sorensen will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Armstrong. Pastor Lyn Roesler will be the officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Henry-Olson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jon A. Sorensen, son of Arthur and Janice (Danielson) Sorensen, was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 19, 1964. He passed away on September 6, 2021, at Mercy One North Iowa Hospital in Mason City, Iowa at the age of 57.

Jon graduated from Armstrong-Ringsted High School in 1982. He was united in marriage to Wanette Whitacre and the couple had three children: Jason, Jennifer, and Justin. This marriage was later dissolved. Jon was employed at United Foods in Fairmont until their closing in 1992. Jon then went back to school at Iowa Lakes Community College and completed their wastewater treatment management program. He was employed at the Estherville Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Jon was a passionate outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and trapping all types of small animals. Teaching others and sharing his passion of hunting and trapping brought him great joy. Jon enjoyed travelling to trapping conventions whenever he was able to. Family and friends were very important to Jon, he enjoyed grilling out, playing catch, and family get togethers with his children and grandchildren. He was always telling people how proud he was of them as well.

Jon is survived by his children Jason (Michele) Sorensen of Superior, Jennifer (Levi) Jenkins of Armstrong, Justin (Brooke) Sorensen of Albert City, and Javen Sorensen of Perry; and 13 grandchildren Jayden Sorensen, Tanner Sorensen, Jaxen Sorensen, Brysen Sorensen, Kaelani Sorensen, Peyton Jenkins, Declan Jenkins, Logan Jenkins, Aiden Sorensen and Lyla Sorensen, Chasmine Richards, Rylan Grindley, and Kayleigh Grindley. Jon is also survived by his sister Faith (Manuel) Garcia of Waterloo, nephews and niece Eric Garcia, Nick (Natalie) Garcia, and Jana Garcia; great-nephews and niece Kaius, Israel, and Adaiah Garcia; and his half-sister Stacey (Joe) Miller of Minnesota.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents Arthur Sorensen and Janice Sorensen, his maternal grandparents Albert and Maybelle Danielson, his paternal grandparents Oscar and Lula Sorensen, and his uncles Jerald Danielson and Michael Danielson.
